Through the Eyes of Seven started as a portrayal of our life as a frontliner’s family with my seven-year-old son during my husband’s absence last spring when New York was devastated by COVID-19. My physician husband was assigned to the COVID Team at his hospital. He quarantined himself away from the family for a couple of months in our bedroom at home during the height of the death toll. Sirens screamed incessantly as the ambulance crossed the bridge next to our building before entering the Midtown Tunnel. The imminent threat from the virus was very real in a frontliner’s household. My son would cry with anxiety whenever we needed to go outside. Most of the photos were shot at my son’s height in an attempt to better understand his perspective during this pandemic.
