Desert Walk Photo Series

CURRENT PROJECT

Desert Walk Series investigates our connection with the natural environment. Desert Walk Series is the first installment of a four part series – Desert Walk, Ocean Walk, Mountain Walk and Urban Walk, featuring diverse landscapes. In each picture of the Series, I walk through different geological locations, performing as a guide leading the viewer through various natural landscapes. My drawings of diverse life forms (embryos, skeletons, animal and plant cells, etc.) are superimposed over the photographs to explore the cycle of life and the co-existence of humankind with our natural and man-made surroundings. The project was originally conceived when I was traveling through the desert in New Mexico several years ago shortly after I moved to Texas from New York City. Having lived in big cities most of my life, I never felt such a strong connection with the land and I was inspired to create a series.
