Currently Work in Progress Each tunnel represents a choice that we make in our lives. This decision to enter a particular tunnel dramatically alters our future results in time and space. Each video out of four channels is approximately 15 minute long and projected onto the four walls in a square room. Each video channel starts out with the traveler walking into a different tunnel of her choice and she will take the viewers to four distinctively different sceneries: deserts, oceans, urban cities and mountains. On each wall, viewers will see the traveler walking through each environment. I will be performing as the traveler in the videos. Born in South Korea, I moved to America in my late teen years and lived in many different cities in the east coast and the south. My work is inspired by the adaptation to new social and physical environments across national and international borders. I relocated many times for schools, jobs and even a marriage and I often wondered how my life would have turned out differently had I made different choices. The scenes of walking through the four tunnels were shot in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The first tunnel leads to the desert plains of Arizona and New Mexico. The second tunnel brings you to New York City and downtown Dallas. In the third tunnel, the traveler walks through Texas Gulf Coast and Niagara Falls. For the final tunnel, additional video shooting locations will include the Adirondack and the Catskill Mountains in New York for the mountain scene. In order to complete the project, video shots will be taken in the Adirondacks and the Catskill Mountains, NY. Then editing the four different sceneries of the desert, ocean, urban city, and mountains is required.
